Create Your Lead Magnet — Step-by-Step (Fabulous Marketer Show Episode 9)

🎯 Episode 9: Create Your Lead Magnet —

How to Package Value to Attract the Right People on Autopilot

INTRO — THE HANDSHAKE BEFORE THE SALE

If your traffic is working, congratulations — you’ve cleared the hardest part. Now you need something that captures people’s attention and earns their trust. That’s your lead magnet: the tiny promise that helps visitors say “Yes, I’ll join your world.” In Episode 9 of The Fabulous Marketer Show, we lay out a practical, persona-driven method for creating a lead magnet that converts — without hype, overstuffed PDFs, or empty promises.

WHERE THIS FITS IN THE FLEE JOURNEY

This episode sits in Stage 5: PROMOTE & ENGAGE. Your audience is ready to move from passive scroller → curious subscriber → engaged member. The lead magnet is the bridge. It must be aligned to your persona (Builder, Promoter, Teacher, Automator) and directly tied to the offer you’ll later pitch.

FLEE Persona quick tips:

Builder: Make a toolkit or checklist.

Promoter: Give a headline swipe file or reel script template.

Teacher: Offer a focused micro-training or resource guide.

Automator: Provide a system, automation or template.

WHY YOU NEED A LEAD MAGNET (in plain terms)

Think of a lead magnet as the handshake before the sale. It:

Builds trust fast — giving value immediately.

Starts the nurture journey — a reason to email, teach, and invite.

Filters the right people — it attracts those who care about this specific problem.

Puts people on your list — owned audience beats algorithmic followers.

COMMON MISTAKES (and what to do instead)

Don’t:

Give away something unrelated to your core offer.

Overload readers with a 30-page PDF that’s never finished.

Forget to collect emails.

Skip a clear next-step CTA.

Do:

Solve one problem with one promise.

Make it consumable in <15 minutes or one sitting.

Tie the magnet directly to your paid offer.

Add a clear invite: button, link, or calendar CTA to the next funnel step.

BEST PERFORMING LEAD MAGNET FORMATS

  • Pick the simplest format you’ll actually use:

  • PDF cheat sheets / checklists (fast, high utility)

  • Mini video trainings (high engagement)

  • Swipe file bundles (high value for promoters)

  • Quiz results (interactive + personas)

  • Templates & toolkits (high immediate implementation)

Host tip: Choose a format you’d consume. If it ends up in somebody’s “read later” pile, it’s not doing its job.

COACHES CORNER — DOES IT HAVE TO BE ORIGINAL?

No. Repackaging is real work. You can repurpose a clip, extract a micro-lesson from a course, or reorganize past content into a tidy deliverable. The requirement is relevance — the magnet must bridge the problem → next step.

THE 1-HOUR LEAD MAGNET BUILD (Do this now)

This is the one-hour sprint we taught on the show. Use the Lead Magnet Prep Planner (available in the Vault).

0–10 min — Choose your ONE problem + the single promise

  • Ask: What immediate result will people get in 15 minutes or less?

10–25 min — Pick format & outline

  • 1–2 big bullets that deliver on the promise

  • Quick intro (what, who, why)

  • One actionable step or template

25–45 min — Draft the core content

  • If PDF: write 3–5 bullet steps + example

  • If video: script 2–3 short teaching points and an example

  • If template: prefill an example and leave blanks to customize

45–55 min — Add CTA & compliance snippet

  • Add a single next-step CTA: “Join hub / Book demo / Get the checklist”

  • Insert compliance text: This resource provides training & tools. It does not guarantee income.

55–60 min — Delivery plan & test

  • Upload to ESTAGE or Google Drive; get a share link

  • Create a simple form (name + email), connect your email tool

  • Send a test opt-in to yourself

DELIVERY & CONVERSION — HOW TO GET PEOPLE FROM MAGNET → MEMBER

Delivery: ESTAGE hub, Google Drive + hosted link, or private video page. ESTAGE preferred for a hub-based experience.

Connect to nurture: 3-email starter flow

Email 1 — Welcome & deliver

Subject: Here’s your [Lead Magnet Title] — Start now

Hi [Name], welcome! Here’s your [magnet]. How to use it in 10 minutes: [bullet]. See you in the hub! — Kelsey

Email 2 — Story + teaching

Subject: Why this works (and a real example)

Give short case + 1 extra tip + invite to Day 4 live office hour.

Email 3 — Invite to next step

Subject: Next step: Join the [mini-workshop/hub]

Soft offer + clear CTA + compliance snippet.

PERSONA-BASED EXAMPLES

Builder (Toolkit):

  • Magnet: “7-Item Hub Builder Checklist — Build your hub in 60 minutes.”

  • CTA: “Join our 20-minute office hour to finish your checklist.”

Promoter (Swipe File):

  • Magnet: “10 High-Converting Video Hooks for Reels”

  • CTA: “Claim the toolkit + a template for your niche.”

Teacher (Micro-Training):

  • Magnet: “15-Minute Mini-Training: Teach & Convert an Audience” (video)

  • CTA: “Join the 7-day sprint to publish your first lesson.”

Automator (System):

  • Magnet: “Automation Blueprint — Welcome sequences that create WAM”

  • CTA: “Get the ESTAGE ready-to-import sequence + coaching slot.”

DESIGN & DELIVERY GUIDE (short)

  • Keep design clean: headline, promise, 3 steps, example, CTA.

  • Use brand fonts, 2-color palette, and white space.

  • Export PDF as single page for downloads.

  • Host on ESTAGE or private page for better UX and tracking.
